Duck Hunting Questions -

Do I need a Hunting License?
Yes, a Texas Hunting License is required with a Federal Duck Stamp. See Texas Parks & Wildlife for that.
What do I need to bring for duck hunting?
  • Shotgun (as required by state law the gun must be plugged for a capacity of no more than 3 shells)
  • Steel Shot Ammunition in shot size of #2, #3, and #4
  • Camouflage clothing
  • Hip boots or waterproof waders
  • Four weather gear
  • Thermos for hot beverages
When is duck season?
  • 1st Season - Nov 3 to 25, 2007
  • 2nd Season - Dec 8 to Jan 27, 2007
Do I have to put out decoys?
No, decoys are provided by Poco Loco Lodge
Do I have to put out decoys?
  • Teal
  • Pintail
  • Red Head
  • Gadwald
  • Buffle Head
What is the limit?
Limit will be announced by
  • The Texas Parks and Wildlife
  • The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Can I bring a hunting dog?
Yes, and overnight kennels are provided at the Poco Loco Lodge.
** Note, hunting dogs are NOT allowed to stay in the room!

Fishing Questions -
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, a Texas fishing license is required with a Salt Water Stamp.
What do I need to bring for fishing?
Your favorite rod and reel (A rod and reel is available at the Poco Loco Lodge if needed)
  • Your favorite artificial lures (If you don't have them... we do!)
  • Gear: Polaroid glasses, a hat and sun block

Wade fisherman, we suggest you bring:
  • Waders or 'booties'
  • Wading Belt with stringer, 'hook-outs' and a line clipper
  • Floating live bait box
